Long-term freshness protection
Landotech is the official distributor of Wipf valves in Italy.
Valves are available with different material combinations, opening pressure levels, flow rates, and filters to meet the needs of the individual case.
A wide variety of foods, including coffee, generate gases inside their packaging. This is where our WICOVALVE® one-way valve, developed in-house by Wipf, literally provides relief. It lets the gases escape but prevents oxygen to get into the packaging. This functionality makes a decisive contribution to the optimized protection of the product.
WHY VALVE?®.
Once roasted, coffee continues to generate gas inside the packaging. To prevent this gas from making the package burst open it is necessary to have a system that provides an exit to the gas. In the past, one way to allow this exit was to punch a hole on the bottom sides of the package. This would allow the gas to come out of it but would also allow the intake of oxygen and micro organisms in direct contact with the coffee, spoiling its taste and flavor. To overcome this problem the solution is to seal a one-way device around the punched hole to make it oxygen-tight in one direction while at the same time allowing the exit of the gas in the other. This device is the one-way degassing WICOVALVE valve, made in Swtizerland and certified by Wipf. This valve maintains the barrier tightness inside the packaging and preserves the aroma and freshness of the coffee.
The sealant and the membrane prevent air from entering the packaging.
The membrane opens as soon as the product generates internal pressure. Depending on the valve type and the packaging content, this may occur at very low overpressure levels.
As the overpressure decreases (closing pressure ? 0.1 mbar) the membrane closes again. The sealant will block oxygen ingress into the packaging, making it airtight again.
